Messymoji
Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 2, 2026
1. Who we are: Messymoji is made by Offbeat, a sole proprietorship in the Republic of Korea. We are responsible for the information described here. Our contact details are in section 16.
2. Your account: When you agree to these terms, the app creates an anonymous account with Google Firebase. It has a random user ID and no name, email or phone number. The app does not see or store your Apple ID.
3. What we collect and why:
- Nickname: a random nickname is assigned. You can change it in Settings. It is shown with your messages.
- Messages you send us: what you write, your email if you choose to add it, and technical details (app version, iOS version, device model and language), so we can answer you and fix problems.
- App Check: Apple's App Attest confirms that requests come from the real app. It does not identify you.
- Usage analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase): which features are used, such as finishing the first-minute guide, saving or sending a sticker, saving a drawing, opening the Pro screen, starting a trial or purchase, and watching a rewarded ad, together with a random app instance ID, device and app version, and your approximate location (country or region, from your IP address). Analytics does not use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not include your nickname, messages or email. We use it to understand how the app is used and to improve it.
- Purchase records (Google Analytics for Firebase): when you buy Pro or start a trial in the app, and when Apple tells the app about a renewal, a purchase on another device or an approved Ask to Buy, the app sends that verified transaction from Apple to Analytics, with details such as the product, price, currency and whether it is a trial. When you use Restore Purchases, the app sends where you tapped it and whether a purchase was found. These records never include your card or payment details or your Apple ID. We use them to understand how Pro is used and to improve the app.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): when the app crashes, what the app was doing at that moment, your device model, iOS and app version, and a random installation ID. We use them only to fix crashes.
- App settings (Firebase Remote Config): the app downloads settings, such as how often ads appear and how many drawings free users can keep. This uses a random installation ID.
- Ad data (Google AdMob): see section 5.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Some US state laws may treat personalized ads as a "sale" or "sharing"; see section 11.
4. Where it is stored: nicknames and messages are stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore, Seoul region, South Korea). Your anonymous account, App Check, usage analytics, crash reports, app settings and ad data are processed by Google on its servers, including in the United States (see section 13).
Your stickers and the emoji you draw (their recipes, finished images and thumbnails) are saved in your own iCloud (Apple CloudKit private storage) when iCloud is on for this app, so they stay when you change phones or reinstall the app. Your nickname and a few small app records (your saved letter colors, and when you last used your free Pro save; free users get a free Pro save again 72 hours after using one) are also kept in your iCloud. We cannot see anything in your iCloud. If iCloud is off, all of this is stored only on your device.
5. Ads: free users see ads from Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK): a banner on the canvas and in the Library, an occasional full-screen ad after you send a sticker, and, only if you choose it, a video ad you can watch to save one sticker without the watermark. Pro subscribers see no ads.
- Before any ad is requested, the app uses Google's consent tool (User Messaging Platform). In the European Economic Area (including Ireland), the UK and Switzerland, it asks for your consent. If you agree, Google may show personalized ads. If you don't, Google shows non-personalized or limited ads, based on things like the app and your general location.
- After that, iOS may ask whether Messymoji can track you (App Tracking Transparency). If you allow it, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to show personalized ads and to measure them. If you don't, the IDFA is not shared, and the ads you see are not based on tracking you across other companies' apps and websites, so they may be less relevant. You can change this anytime in your iPhone's Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Messymoji's own code never reads the IDFA. Only the Google Mobile Ads SDK can access it, and only if you allow tracking. Usage analytics use a version of Firebase Analytics that does not collect the IDFA.
- Ad requests go to Google (Google LLC), which receives the ad data. To show and measure ads, Google may process device information, your IP address, approximate location, how you interact with ads and, only if you allow tracking, the IDFA. Apple's SKAdNetwork may report that an ad led to an app install without identifying you.
- Settings → Privacy choices lets you change your ad choices anytime. It appears when the law in your region gives you this choice.
- Learn more in Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and how Google uses information from apps that use its services (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites).
6. Consent for analytics: in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, usage analytics follow the choices you make in Google's consent form. If you don't agree to storing information on your device, Analytics does not keep an ID on your device for analytics. Crash reports are not used for ads; we collect them because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the app working. In US states, if you opt out in Settings → Privacy choices, Analytics is also told not to use your data for ads (see section 11).
7. Payments: Messymoji Pro is sold through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple handles the payment, and we never receive your card or other payment details. The app checks with Apple on your device whether you have Pro. The purchase records sent to usage analytics are described in section 3.
8. Keeping and deleting:
- We keep your nickname and messages while you use the app.
- Settings → Delete my data deletes from our server your nickname, your messages and our replies, and your anonymous account. The app then starts again with a new anonymous account and a new random nickname.
- Delete my data does not delete: the stickers and emoji you made, which stay in your iCloud or on your device (delete them in your Library); your purchases and subscription, which Apple manages (deleting data does not cancel a subscription); the record of when you last used your free Pro save; and the analytics, crash and ad data that Google holds, which is not linked to your nickname or messages.
- Google deletes that data on its own schedule: usage analytics within 14 months, crash reports within 90 days, and ad data as described in Google's Privacy Policy.
- You can also ask us by email to delete your data, and we will do it within 30 days.
- When you delete a sticker in your Library, it is also removed from your iCloud.
9. Clipboard: when you tap Copy or Send, the app writes your sticker to the clipboard. It never reads the clipboard.
10. Photos and other data: if you choose Save Image in the share sheet, iOS asks your permission to add the sticker to Photos. The app only adds images there and never reads your photos. The app does not access your camera, contacts or precise location.
11. Your rights in US states: if you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law (such as California, Virginia, Colorado or Connecticut), you can ask to know, access, correct or delete your personal information, and you can opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information and of targeted advertising. To opt out, use Settings → Privacy choices, or turn off tracking in your iPhone's Settings. An opt-out in Privacy choices applies to ads, which the Google Mobile Ads SDK follows, and to the ad-related signals in usage analytics: Analytics is told not to use your data for ads or ad personalization. Usage analytics themselves, crash reports and app settings, which are not used for ads, continue. Turning off tracking stops the IDFA from being shared (see section 5). For the other rights, use Delete my data or email us. We will answer within 45 days and will not treat you differently for using your rights.
12. Your rights in the EEA, UK and Ireland: we rely on these legal bases: running the app and your account, nickname, messages and Pro (contract); personalized ads, storing information on your device for ads and analytics, and tracking (your consent); crash reports, App Check, app settings and non-personalized ads (our legitimate interests); purchase records sent to usage analytics, to understand how Pro is used and to improve the app (our legitimate interests). You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or move your data, to object to its use, and to withdraw your consent anytime in Settings → Privacy choices, without affecting what was done before. You can also complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Data Protection Commission in Ireland or the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.
13. Transfers abroad: we are based in South Korea, and nicknames and messages are stored in Seoul. Google processes the data below in the United States and other countries where it operates. For transfers from the EEA or UK, South Korea is recognized as giving adequate protection, and Google uses Standard Contractual Clauses or other approved safeguards.
- Recipient: Google LLC (contact through https://policies.google.com/privacy)
- Country: United States and other countries where Google operates
- When and how: sent over an encrypted connection while you use the app
- What: random app and installation IDs, device and app information, IP address and approximate location, feature usage, purchase records, crash reports, ad data, and the IDFA only if you allow tracking
- Why: anonymous account and App Check, ads, usage analytics, crash reporting and app settings
- How long: as in section 8
- How to refuse: change ad and analytics choices in Settings → Privacy choices and your iPhone's Tracking setting. The other transfers are needed to run the app; if you don't want them, use Delete my data and stop using the app.
14. Third-party services:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, App Check, Analytics, Crashlytics and Remote Config), as described above.
- Google AdMob and User Messaging Platform, for ads and ad consent (see section 5).
- Apple iCloud, only if you turn it on, to keep your stickers, drawn emoji and the records in section 4 in your own iCloud.
- Apple In-App Purchase, for Messymoji Pro (see section 7).
15. Children: you must be 13 or older to use Messymoji. The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
16. Changes and contact: if we make material changes to this policy, we will update it here and on messymoji.com, and the app will ask you to agree again.
